Manchester United Beat Liverpool 3-0

Man Utd beat Liverpool convincingly, aided by the sending off of Javier Mascherano for dissent and a second yellow card. While some Liverpool fans will point to that sending off as the turning point, the harsh reality is that Utd were 1-0 up and could have scored 3 by the latter stages of the first half.

Liverpool's defense looked poor for throughout this game and only some rare poor finishing from Rooney and Ronaldo prevented this from being a bigger thrashing.

Utd will feel very good about their days work and will be hoping that the result between Arsenal and Chelsea will be as good for them.

The man of the match in this one could well be the former Spurs man Michael Carrick who made the game look very, very easy at times.

Mascherano sending off
There has been a lot written about Mascherano's sending off yesterday.  I think the British media have been really unfair to Mascherano, and have focused on his reaction to being sent off rather than considering events that led up to his dismissal.
I found this piece on the internet that touches on several issues that those in the mass media have overlooked.
