Ronaldinho Joins AC Milan

This is obviously a big story. Milan have signed three top players this summer (Flamini, Ronnie and Zambrotta). With the squad they have, we should anticipate a strong season from Ancelotti's side. Here is his money quote on Ronaldinho:

"The club has made a great sacrifice and has bought outstanding players. With what is at our disposal we can count on being competitive on all fronts. Ronaldinho will bring lots of enthusiasm and that enthusiasm is a fundamental component to start the season well. Some years ago he was considered the best player in the world, here at Milan he will find the right atmosphere to relaunch himself."

Dinho may have left $16M on the table?

Manchester City offered Dinho $50M. AC Milan is paying him $33M. Not quite sure what the reason is he may be leaving $16M on the table. Maybe he likes playing with his old buddy Kaka?

That could be a reason

or it could be that he knew he had a better chance of winning on a team like AC Milan than Manchester City and decided to pass up on the money.

Serves Man City right

Still mad about them sacking Sven.

Speaking of Sven

How good is he as a coach? He’s gonna be the manager of my Mexico team, but sadly, I don’t know as much about him as I should.

IMHO

He’s a very good coach. He didn’t get England over the hump and into a major tournament final, but he consistently ensured that they qualified and they typically played quality football under him. The last World Cup obviously didn’t go too well, as I think he had boxed himself into a corner strategically and was unable to make the changes that needed to be made to suss out the midfield/attacking nature of the squad (specifically the roles of Gerrard and Lampard). However, in general his time with England was successful, as he got the team back on the right track after some pretty bleak years prior to his arrival.

I think he’ll do well with Mexico. They are my early dark horse for South Africa.
