Russia 3 Holland 1
Unbelievable, another favorite and former group winner out of Euro 2008. Holland followed Portugal and Croatia in crashing out of the tournament at the quarter final stage as Guus Hiddink's Russia grab a much deserved place in the semi finals. Despite the fact that this game went to extra time, it was clear to most observers that the Russians deserved to win. They played with fluency and panache and really gave a top quality performance. The Dutch go home wondering where the total futbol of the group stages went at such a critical stage.

Wow! What a match!
What a class performance from the Russians. I am glad that the RVN managed to make it exciting towards the end, but there seemed to be no doubt from the start that the Russians were going to win this one. The only flaw in their game was defending on spot kicks…
Props to RVN and to Van de Vaart; Vaart’s 3 spot-kicks were fantastic!
On the Russian side I was amazed by Roman Pavluchenko’s performance. He was all over the place, crushing the ball on goal from 40 yards out, serving crosses, etc! And, of course, there is Arshavin…
