Africans play key role in La Liga Weekend
It looks the African continent has had quite the effect on La Liga this month. The first half of the month saw key players on both sides called to international duty in the African Cup of Nations, most notably Eto'o, Toure Yaya, and Real Madrid's Diarra. During there absences it was clear their respective clubs missed these important cogs. And on the weekend, Eto'o definitely showed his importance to Barcelona's chances of a La Liga title with a clinical 2nd half hat-trick. Unfortunately for Real Madrid it was Getafe's African representative Uche that stole the show. The Nigerian Uche, who was also in Africa for the continent's championship, called his winner against Real Madrid the most important goal of his life. I gotta agree it was pretty important (and wonderful!)
We are clearly not too far off from Africa being represented in the World Cup final. Makes futbol all the more exciting!
